A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Happy summer everyone! I hope you are making time for rest and enjoying loved ones and friends, and of course, reading our newsletter.
We are giving you a sneak peak of some great trips and experiences available for bidding at this year’s Gala on September 14. Can’t join us that night? No problem – register via the event website and you’ll be able to bid on items remotely. Participating in the Silent Auction is a great way to start your holiday shopping, or pick out something nice for yourself. Your purchases support the legal services we provide each day that help bring peace and stability to children and families throughout Los Angeles County.
Once again we had wonderful summer law clerks who we kept busy with work and fun activities. We are proud that our family of volunteers keeps growing. Below we share the great opportunities coming up, including at Gala.
Two new staff members recently joined the LQ family, and we have a staff attorney position that has just opened up. Please share widely!

MEET OUR SUMMER LAW CLERKS

Brianda Herrera and Haley Pollock joined us as law clerks this summer. Brianda completed her second year of studies at Loyola Law School, and Haley finished her first year at Southwestern Law School. Both women are committed to public service.

We enjoyed orientation day picnic lunch at Vista Hermosa Park, followed that afternoon by an ice cream social at the office before evening intake.
Staff and volunteers had fun watching our LA Dodgers beat the SF Giants at our annual outing to Dodger Stadium.
Reflecting on her summer at LevittQuinn, Brianda said, “The attorneys took great care in highlighting the inner workings of family law practice. As the summer comes to an end, I walk away with both practical experience and a desire to continue serving communities in the family law realm.”
“Working at Levitt Quinn over the summer has been a wonderful experience,” Haley shared. “I worked with a smart, supportive, and compassionate staff that believes everyone deserves access to high-quality legal service, regardless of their ability to pay.”

CALLING GALA VOLUNTEERS!

LevittQuinn is recruiting volunteers to help us get ready for Gala on Saturday, September 14. We have two (2) shifts on the day of the event, as well as a few hours to assist in our office on Friday, September 13.

Even if you are unable to stay for a full shift we are grateful for as much time as you can give. Email LQ Volunteer Coordinator Becky Miller to learn more.

MEET OUR NEWEST TEAM MEMBERS

LevittQuinn welcomes Karina Carrera and Sarai Hernandez-Orantes to the LQ family. Both legal assistants, they will be the first points of contact for people seeking to access our services, and will provide critical support to our staff attorneys. We are very happy to welcome them.

Karina Carrera received her B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Law from California State University, Northridge, in December 2018. Karina has a passion for social justice issues and has volunteered with other nonprofit organizations as well as the Self-Help Legal Access Center in the Chatsworth courthouse.
Karina is looking forward to growing and learning in an organization that cares about helping the community in times of need.
Sarai Hernandez-Orantes received her B.A. in Legal Studies from U.C. Berkeley in May 2019. During her time as an undergrad, she worked as a legal intern for an immigration clinic and other non-profit organizations in the Bay area, in addition to her on-campus job as an event coordinator for U.C. Berkeley.
As an L.A. native, Sarai is excited to be back working and serving the L.A. community as a legal assistant for LevittQuinn.
