A Message From The Executive Director

Dear all, during these hot summer days I hope you are making time for rest and staying healthy and well. Although we continue to live through this time of uncertainty and stress, I wanted to share a few bright notes with you.

Take a sneak peek at some great trips and experiences available for bidding at this year’s Gala. Register via the event website to receive the link to watch our virtual celebration on September 12. Begin bidding on items online starting September 7. Participating in the Silent Auction is a great way to start your holiday shopping, or pick out something nice for yourself. Your purchases support the legal services we provide each day that help bring peace and stability to children and families throughout Los Angeles County.

We were graced once again with wonderful summer law clerks. They adapted with us as we pivoted to a virtual and socially-distanced summer together. I miss them already.

Yvana, Sarah, and Emily clerked with us during this unusual summer. These three smart and flexible women took on a variety of projects and case assignments, adapting to changes alongside us. We are so glad to have had the opportunity to work with them.

Although pandemic realities put a bit of a crimp in our usual summer activities, clerks and staff enjoyed a virtual game night as well as a “socially-distanced” lunch, organic tomato tasting, and an ice cream social in our office backyard.

This year’s 5th Annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception was a virtual event. Current and former LQ volunteers, including board and leadership council members, came together on Zoom to catch up.

Sarah Daniels won the night’s “Everything but the Kitchen Sink” beverage challenge with her tropical cocktail. Congrats Sarah, enjoy that UberEats giftcard!

We are so thankful for everything our volunteers do to support the LQ mission and help make great client outcomes possible.
